During the visit of CSU-member of parliament Dr. Hans-Peter Friedrich to his office in the German Bundestag in Berlin on 28 June 2024, both gentlemen were able to exchange and deepen their personal assessments of the current situation of Sino-German economic relations. In his role as Chairman of the Sino-German Parliamentary Group, Dr Friedrich continuously fights to strengthen trust and continuity in the links between politics and business in both countries. As both agreed, in diplomatically difficult times it is the art of small steps to stabilise and further expand the economic opportunities of German SMEs in particular, for example by reducing regulatory requirements in the individual provinces. The geostrategic shifts that are currently emanating from the USA, particularly in terms of international trade, pose further challenges for European and German efforts to revitalise economic relations. Friedrich and Ringshausen agreed to continue their informal talks and to jointly promote practical Sino-German projects.
